Road Traffic Defence

Motoring offences are too numerous to list but range from speeding offences through to causing death by dangerous driving.

Different penalty points and/or disqualifications can apply to various different offences. The word“accident”seems to have been lost in the mists of time as our increasing “blame culture” looks to point the finger.

Your licence will no doubt be very important to you. Indeed it could be your livelihood. Penalty points can rapidly tot up leaving you facing potential disqualification.

If exceptional hardship can successfully be argued on your behalf – then you can keep on the road.

Simon has dealt with hundreds of road traffic cases over the years and received plaudits in both the Legal 500 and Chambers and Partners UK guide for his work.

Maria Armstrong-Langley is our residential conveyancing consultant solicitor.

Maria has a total of 27 years’ experience in the field of residential conveyancing, as a solicitor since 2003 and prior to that a Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives.  Maria also has a financial services background and used to be a financial adviser and underwrite mortgages for a major high street bank.  Maria is a people person and has a practical down to earth attitude when it comes to finding solutions.  She knows how stressful moving home can be and will be able to help you through the legal process with useful advice and keep you informed.  Much of the communication is done by email as far as possible to speed matters up.  She is also of course available for a chat on the telephone, as she has a very hands on approach to the job.  She is happy to give you a competitive quote for any conveyancing transaction by return of email.

Maria lives in the Loughborough area, so if you live near to this area, she will be happy to conduct appointments at your home, if you prefer, to save you a trip into the Nottingham office.

Karen Sandhu - 3

Karen is our commercial litigation consultant and if anyone can get you a winning result she can.

With over 11 years of post qualification experience ranging from very complex business and personal disputes to straightforward claims, Karen always brings a breath of fresh air to the problem. Her calming resolve and honest advice will cut through the mayhem of litigation. With a real hands on approach you will be glad that she is on your side.

Kate is our Wills, Trusts & Probate Consultant, with over 11 years Post Qualification Experience as a Solicitor, but many more years’ experience ‘on the job’.

Kate is also a Trust & Estate Practitioner, making her an expert in her field. Last, but by no means least, she is a Full Accredited member of Solicitors for the Elderly, giving her additional expertise in working with elderly and vulnerable clients.

Her field of work can often be thought of as very formal and ‘dry’, but as she prefers to work with a fair chunk of humour and a flexible attitude, this results in her working in a relaxed manner whilst still being utterly professional. Kate fully appreciates she is often needed at a difficult time in people’s lives, but is able to provide supportive, professional and pragmatic solutions to assist you; including home visits, often at no extra charge.

Like Pip, Kate is also hands on, very much a team player and good at multi-tasking. Having worked in other areas of business before turning to law she has a good grounding in “life”’ and therefore brings many other attributes to the job.

Pip's expertise is corporate commercial and business law with over 20 years' experience. She has been a partner at Spearing Waite, Nelsons and Bray and Bray in Leicester.

Pip’s attributes include speed, efficiency and being able to multitask – an obvious advantage of being a woman! She is fluent in Italian and French and has Degree level German.

She is sympathetic to business needs having started and run her own business and also developed property abroad and in the buy-to-let market in the UK.  Pip pays attention to detail and above all has a caring and nurturing approach towards her clients.

Pip deals with international business matters without problem, often using her overseas contacts built up over many years. She has an equally vast network of UK contacts she has known personally for over 20 years including accountants, banks, business and other professionals.

A few more words about Pip – she is driven, persuasive, punchy, energetic and charismatic, a pocket sized battle ship, who is single minded, a bundle of energy, a box of fireworks, approachable.  She is most definitely hands on and rolls her sleeves up and is the one to have on your side with a quality reputation across the East Midlands.

She is also a Big Mac fan, and not the burger variety!

Simon offers particular expertise in the ever more complex area of Road Traffic Defence law.

He has over 30 years experience and was one of the founder members of Butler Chaplin & Fielding Solicitors in Nottingham; an equity partner and board member at Nelsons Solicitors Nottingham, and also an Equity partner, director and board member at Cartwright King Solicitors Nottingham.  Simon has seen the big firm politics and realises none of it helps the client.

Simon has practised both matrimonial law and criminal law and built up a special niche expertise in road traffic cases over the years. He has personal experience of property transactions and the buy-to-let market.

He fights shy of publicity but is an advocate of choice for those in the know, mentioned in Legal 500 and Chambers Directory year on year as being “top of his game, the one to use, a polished court room performer, skilled advocate, sharp and astute”.

Road traffic defence is a particular niche expertise – covering everything from speeding to drink driving, driving without due care and attention, dangerous driving – in a nutshell, keeping you on the road when the penalty points tot up.
